simple steps bring great changes - WED

World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated each year on June 5. Like Earth Day, it's a day to learn about the environment, participate in conservation activities, and learn about ways to help in the future. To celebrate at school, you can commune with nature, create new environmental programs, use nature-centered lesson plans, and work on earth-centered activities.

As part of world environment day today we organized class, outside of our class room. It was the first experience for my students in grade 10 P. Our topic was “Water resources” in geography.
The theme of this chapter is connected with environment protection.
Water conservation is actually is the part of environment protection.
So we thought as a simple way to increase students' love of nature is to hold class outside. There was a nice and shady area in our garden under a tree. The students expressed to sit over there and love the change in environment.

I led them to Listen carefully the tunes of nature. Now we could hear the songs of birds. There were birds. We spent time to watch some birds, different plants…

We started introduced the topic by a small experiment.
Vaishak brought a glass of water . By using this I demonstrated them about how much water available in this earth.
97 % water – Ocean water ( not suitable to drink)
2.67 % Fesh water is not accessible ( glaciers, ice, mountain regions)
0.33 fresh water ( Lakes, rivers, wells, ponds etc)

When we pored water percentage wise they could understand how much water is available. That 0.33.
We use misuse , wasting this water knowingly or unknowingly.

Later they said how do we water water. At the end of the class we have decided to follow certain steps to take as part of environment protection.

We have decided to minimize the use of plastics, switching off fans and lights if it is not necessary , usage of LEDs bulbes, usage of backet water instead of showers in bathroom.. etc..
simple steps bring great changes.

The school celebrated Environment Day with great fervor on Tuesday, June 5th 2018.The day commenced with a pledge followed by quiz and presentations.

A plantation drive was done by the Student Council members along with Principal, Vice Principal, Supervisors, Science HOD Mrs. Smitha and Akbar ali (Social Science HOD) A.O, farming teachers, and activity coordinators are participated.
