They provide a forum for the people to discuss and decide on issues concerning their lives in the village.

We need to use democracy for organisations other than the government. It can be implemented in our life. Whenever a decision has to be taken in our family, we all sit down and arrive at a consensus. Student’s opinion matters as much as their father. A democratic decision involves consultation with and consent of all those who are affected by that decision. Those who are not powerful have the same say in taking the decision as those who are powerful. This can apply to a government or a family or any other organisation. Thus democracy is also a principle that can be applied to any sphere of life

Later he conducted a referendum which was based on malpractices and fraud. He changed his designation as President in 2002.   3.
