The song I came to sing!
- Rabindranath Tagore

The song that I came to sing remains unsung to this day.
I have spent my days in stringing and in unstringing my instrument.
The time has not come true, the words have not been rightly set;
only there is the agony of wishing in my heart.
The blossom has not opened; only the wind is sighing by.
I have not seen his face, nor have I listened to his voice;
only I have heard his gentle footsteps from the road before my house.
The livelong day has passed in spreading his seat on the floor;
but the lamp has not been lit and I cannot ask him into my house.
I live in the hope of meeting with him; but this meeting is not yet.

Kagan structures of Class - Activity Oriented

Traditional teaching engages some students but not all . Kagan is a revolutionary approach to teaching that actively engages every student.

let's look at the problems traditional teaching creates, students sit in rows,
the rule is,no talking the teacher presents new information or a new skill
to engage students the teacher asked the class a question .one student response at a time.

sounds familiar doesn't it so what's wrong with that. The first problem is we
set our students against each other. When the teacher calls on Peter to answer soo Lee lowers her hand and disappointment ah....but when Peter begins to falter.

He shoots your hand back up waves wildly pick me teacher ,a subset of
students compete for the opportunity to shine.A competitive class is not a brain
friendly learning environment .The next problem is students been very little
time actively engaged the teacher is doing most of the talking most of the time .

when we finally do engage students it's one at a time .It's like being in a long line waiting to be served a big percent of the class to somewhere between mildly interested and comatose. Many students don't want to turn they feel they can't or don't want to compete johnny is shy monica is lower achieving one is still learning English .

These students don't want to be singled out .Don't call on me they hide they opt out it's no wonder we have an achievement gap . Traditional teaching engages some of the class but many students can easily slip through the cracks cake and engages all students we turn things around.Literally instead of facing the back of a classmate's head returns to surround the face each other instead of calling on one student at a time we can call up all students using a keg and structure time to pair share the teacher asked a question in pairs partner a shares for shares for .Everyone has turn sharing with the partners safe.

There's no need to hide in just a little over a minute we engage every student in the same amount of time in the traditional class we engage one student what's better engage one student or engage every student .Absolutely right .Everyone learns more it's not just the amount of engagement that matters it also matters how we engage students with Kagan structures we engage students with interactive pair and team structures while students master academic curriculum they develop essential social skills ,they learn teamwork skills, they develop communication skills, they practice leadership skills these are the very college and career readiness skills are standards call for in teams students are no longer isolated or competing against each other.

They celebrate each other successes .
They are on the same side cooperation leads to kinder and more caring kids.
We create buddy's not bullies.
Kagan simple yet powerful structures transform education in number of heads together teammates put their heads together to review .Every one is more active and the content becomes more memorable in quiz quiz trade students repeatedly quiz classmates they have so much more fun being up and active than working alone.

In rally coach partner solve problems together instead of independent practice .Students have appeared to coach them and provide immediate feedback .While teach the traditional way when we have so many alternatives to engage every student

Kagan isn't something we think might work .Kagan is scientifically researched based

hundreds of studies on cooperative learning show tremendous academic and social gains over traditional with Kagan. Teachers are engaging their disengaged students struggling schools are making dramatic games entire districts are raising their test scores kagan works .Kagan works because Kagan creates full engagement for every student engaged students are bored or disruptive engaged students enjoy school more engaged students learn more Kagan it's all about engagement

The Future generation & Teachers

What will be the role of teachers in future ? Can we call them teachers ? Now most of the educators tell that we can call them "facilitator".
Currently there are a lots of changes in educational sector.

We can see it in different ways. Method of Teaching, Learning Activities, Evaluation etc. Again there are many changes is going to happen in the filed of education. One of them will be Google Class Room.

Today we had an opportunity to participate in a workshop which was conducted by brams along with Google on “Innovate Education with Google” at Duabi. The event highlighted on creating awareness on Google for Education among teachers. There were around 30 teachers from various educational institutes around UAE.
I think our next main changes in innovative education will be Google class room with Google Apps. Teachers / Institutions can't limit our students thoughts and knowledge.

According to Google, more than 50 million number of students and teachers who use Google Apps for Education around the globe. Bogdan Copil lead a good workshop.

Google Apps is an online solution that bridges the divide between learning at home or at school. It offers the opportunity for collaboration to happen in real time, irrespective of physical or digital location.

During this days some of my colleagues asked me-
Then What will be the role of teachers in future ? Can we call them teachers ? As a result of a lots of changes in educational sector the teacher name has replaced to facilitator .

Equipping this generation of learners with modern tools makes sense. This is why many schools are adopting Google Apps for Education, an extraordinary platform for the 21st Century.

IGNITING STUDENT MINDS

Yesterday evening at Hotel Grant Plaza auditorium ,Dubai ,we could attend to participate in a Teachers workshop which was organised by P. M Foundation in association with Gulf Madhyamam. Dr. APM Muahammed Haneesh gave a inspirational lecture on “Igniting Student Minds”.

Students , Parents and Teachers jointly partipated in this session.
How can we ignite the students mind ?

There are number of students in our school with different talents . Unfortunately teachers are worried about their much documentation works and lack of time . Due to this teaching becoming mechanical. In this context how can they inspire and trigger out the curiosity of students? Shared by some teachers who attended this workshop.

Haneesh quoted the story of AlbertEinstein. His teachers reported that he was mentally slow, unsociable, and adrift forever in his foolish dreams.”Einstein was regarded as the greatest intellectual mind of our time.

Students as well as parents also had to share a lots of things. They commented on Who is a good Teacher?

Some important points I have noted in this lecture are following.

  • Provide more opportunity
  • Students come to class room with great expectation
  • Motivate independent inquiry
  • Forums are to be formed
  • Beyond the class room we need forum. Eg: Reading club,Astronomy club
  • Do we have opportunity to meet the students future plan ?
  • If there is a extra ordinary students, how can we ignite them ?
  • Tell them to read deeply
  • Give them gentle words ( Support)
  • Teachers shoud be “friend, Philosopher and Guide”
  • A good teacher hungry to be succeeded
  • Good rapport and relation like triangular . Students- Parent – Teacher
His talk was truly inspirational to us. The valuable thoughts shared by them were fully imbibed the minds of students, parents as well as teachers. Many valuable thoughts shared by him.

Class Dojo Training - Dojo Sir,, Dojo Sir,

Last few years I was observing and asking to different teachers on Class Management. I searched and read different kinds of printed books as well as E books from google to know more about Class Management. When I decided to fly to UAE my old collegues shared that, Out side of India, the class management will be very difficulty.
That was almost correct. Here in our schools there are multinational students. :-)

Especially Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, lNigeria etc. Everyone has their own distinctive culture. So I started to find an ICT based solution for class dojo. At last I reached in Class Dojo and Kyambu. I did not use Kyambu yet. It is also almost same. So as a pilot project I used Class Dojo.

During this time one of my close friend Mr. Noufal & Shafeeq also asked. What is it? I explained and they were thrilled to use. The very next day other five teachers also started under my school.Everyone was very happy. Because it worked very well.
My students even they were in grade 10 , accepted this in a good spirit. At last they named me Dojo Sir and my colleagues mocked at me as “Dojo Akbar”

When awarding points to groups, students quickly sharpened up their behavior and displayed teamwork! They hold each other accountable to make sure their group is behaved and on task. This makes my class room e much easier. Earliear I was giving points for their discipline, Oral test, Quiz, Note book completion as House wise.

To get students even more engaged with ClassDojo, I gave a cerficate monthly. At the end of each month , I would view reports and reward the team that earned the most points with either a technology party

I wished to spread this App to all my collegues. But I did not share this to anyone. In 2016 Augest 21 we came from our kerala after enjoying two months vacation. We had training programme until 28th Augest. Once My Supervisor Mr. Vijesh told me to explain this Class Dojo to Prinicpal. I tried to introduce this Dojo to our honourable Principal named Mrs.Jisha Jayan. She was also thrilled and requested me to familiarize CD to all my colleagues. So we gathered at auditorium.

Somebody were scratching in their head. Does he bring another head ache for us. So I started my training in this contest. At last many teachers asked many doubts . It was amazing experience. Many teachers created new ID the same day. Now it has been covered more that 75.
