I Akbarali , a teacher, Wikidata volunteer and journalist from India. At present I live in the United Arab Emirates . I love teaching, Wikipedia editing, Wikidata volunteering, humour, music, reading, beaches and hills in that order. While in India, I spent my precious days in teaching learning process . And run the different parts of Malappuram districts to collect news stories for newspaper and a local tv channel. During my spare time, I enjoy writing on Wikipedia , Newspaper , Blogs and some magazines.
I develop creative approaches to deliver quality education to my students. I find ways to inspire them to learn, equip them with knowledge, and develop their life skills such as critical thinking, information technology and group work.
My particular interest is in applying technology to teaching learning process that high tech helps stimulate students’ creativity and enthusiasm for learning. I also use technology to bridge the gap between the classroom and real life. Learning is extended to the outside world, and my students are exposed to different cultures as they use applications and websites such as Wikidata, Wikipedia, Class Dojo and Google Apps to connect to the world level of education.
In addition to teaching, I am the ambassador of ClassDojo application in UAE. Being an classdojo ambassador I have given training to 432 teachers from different countries. As HOD of Social Science Department, I have conducted several training programmes to teachers and lead many staff members meeting in my school. In my weekends and evenings I had taught many students who were economically poor in a remote village of Kerala, India, and they can’t go to school because they were studying in moral education in religious institutions.
I also run a YouTube channel, two blogs to share my online learning contents tutorials and ideas. And I have participated as delegate in Qudwa International teachers forum in 2017 which was held at Abu Dhabi. In October 2019 I received a scholarship to participate in Wikidatacon19 at Berlin, Germany and participated in a panel session and talked about Wikidata in School Education.
