Recommendations about giving notes

The notes can be formed through  the outlining method:
The outlining note taking method uses headings and bullet points to organize topics. This method is followed by the students only .instead of question answers given by the teacher ,students themself finds their notes.Teachers must train  the students in a problem solving methods.
Teachers role in preparing the notes:
Every teachers first follow same pattern of notes before framing
  1. What i know before( make the students to write as previous knowledge)
  2. Notes in bullet points from the textbook ...give them as a homework ,compel them to write the date which teacher explains in the class .it may be a proof that teacher completes the portion.
  3. After completing the notes give one critical thinking question and differentiated activity ( ask them to do three ways as per their achiever in order to achieve the objective of that topic )prepared by the teacher, in between the notes.
  4. What i leant
Students write by themself.( can see the difference of their progression)
Question answer for the exam point of view can be given to low achievers only.
At last AOL-(Class test)

Interactive Notebook:
As per this method, a notebook will have two items; The printed note pasted in the notebook and Students’ work .
The printed Note: The printed note contains the main questions in the lesson taught. This can be prepared by the Teacher and sent it to the students. The students will take a print out of this and paste it in the notebook.
Students’ Work: This would be the work of the students, done both in the class and at home. It may contain the items like,
graphic organisers,
Mind Maps,
Puzzle activities,
any visuals related to the lesson, or any other creative work of the students related to the content.
This will make sure, the students get a creative opportunity to analyse the lesson areas and come up with their own way to organise the learning.
At the same time, the printed note will make sure that students have an authentic reference source for the lesson learnt, which is prepared by the teacher.
It will avoid students spending long time on just “copying and pasting” the notes given by the teachers. Rather an opportunity will be created for them to think and organise their learning.
CAUTION: All the agents have to be explained and convinced about this very well, before implementing, students and parents.

6.For which grades should it be continued or discontinued, please specify with reasons.
It has to be continues in grade 9 to 12.

1. Do we give students important questions 'or more', prior to assessment in school in any, most or all grades? *

Effective worksheet
Introduction
A worksheet, in the word's original meaning, is a sheet of paper on which one performs work. In education, a worksheet may have questions for students and places to record answers.
It can enrich their lessons.
SMART Boards, iPads, computers, chalkboards, and worksheets are all important tools of our trade. But remember: Tools can't enrich the learning process; only great teachers can.

Is Paperless worksheet effective ?

Many schools have the policy of paperless worksheet. Is it effective for students.

Teachers feel difficulty when they avoid paper worksheets.

Now teacher are not using / preparing worksheet because of following reasons.

1. They can't use worksheet in classroom.

2. Many parents do not have familiarity with internet and portals.

3. There will not be printers.

4. Most of the worksheets are not able to copy from screen when teachers display in a classroom.

We used to prepare the worksheets for various reasons.

They can be engaging, interactive, creative, hands-on, fun, and useful tools for classroom teachers.

The World Cup - Social Science Classroom Activities

In the FIFA World Cup takes place in Russia, with the whole world watching. But are all
the 32 countries playing against each other in the World Cup equal?

As you know the world itself running behind this football now. Can’t we use this world cup spirit in to our subject and academic spirit. Definitely we can. It can encourage participatory, investigative and collaborative teaching and learning styles.

In geography it may help them to familiarize Locational knowledge; map and data analysis skills; and understanding of the geographical similarities and differences between places.

Courtesy-https://www.oxfam.org.uk/education
Here we would like to suggest some task which can be done in our Social Science class room.

1. Giving a speech in class assembly.
Let students say about their favorite team.
They have to connect the information connect with History, Politics, geography,
economy of the mentioned country.
2.. Brief talk on the players.

3. Small flags can be displayed in our soft board.
Let students familiar with flags and countries.

4. Ask learners where the World Cup will be taking place in 2018 (Russia)
A brief history about Russian revolution – Grade 9 topic

5. Predicting the result of plays every day.

6. Thinking about maps
Where are the “richest” countries?
Where are the countries with the highest FIFA rankings?
What do you think might be the reasons for the differences between countries?

simple steps bring great changes - WED

World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated each year on June 5. Like Earth Day, it's a day to learn about the environment, participate in conservation activities, and learn about ways to help in the future. To celebrate at school, you can commune with nature, create new environmental programs, use nature-centered lesson plans, and work on earth-centered activities.

As part of world environment day today we organized class, outside of our class room. It was the first experience for my students in grade 10 P. Our topic was “Water resources” in geography.
The theme of this chapter is connected with environment protection.
Water conservation is actually is the part of environment protection.
So we thought as a simple way to increase students' love of nature is to hold class outside. There was a nice and shady area in our garden under a tree. The students expressed to sit over there and love the change in environment.

I led them to Listen carefully the tunes of nature. Now we could hear the songs of birds. There were birds. We spent time to watch some birds, different plants…

Class Observation Experiences

So far I have not updated much on this blog because of busy schedule. This is an oversight on my part, as a Hod, last month was one of the most interesting parts of my job. I could visit my colleagues classed and observe their teaching learning process inside the classroom. There are many teachers they have good calibre and exceptional teaching skills.
They were very energetic, and used very creative ideas ,teaching tools, teaching methods like group discussion, jigsaw ,debate etc..

My usual approach to observation is to sit at the back of the class with my ledger notebook. Next time I would like to use laptop: so that I can type far more quickly than I can write by hand, and trainees would actually be able to receive through mail !

We do a great deal of work at mentor training on observations: above all else, we want to prioritise the historical learning taking place in the lesson. Are the pupils in this lesson learning any decent history? What is the trainee doing which makes this happen? What signs of this are there? Where does the focus of the lesson slip? Were does this lesson not fit smoothly into what went before and after? Although I do comment in observations on more generic matters (behaviour management, use of reinforcement, activities and so on.

Let our class room more practical oriented.

I am very happy to see our teachers connect the history class more practical and linking with present life. Yesterday I could see such scene in one of the class. In 6P , Mrs. Sangeetha was teaching ancient Indian history with full of energy and she could create curiosity and surprise among her students.

During the period of Neolithic ,people had used wheat, millet, lentils, grains etc.
To get more clarity for the terms like millet and cereals, she gave different packets of these items to the students. Students were very happy to see, touch and discuss about the same.

Here are few pictures.

Let our class room more practical oriented.

Class room teaching are to be more practical oriented. We can bring some real things which can connect even hour past history.

Year Plan - Preparation

Effective planning leads for effective instructions and learning.
The teachers who spend more time in preparation will spend less time in trying to keep their students on the learning track.
Year planning is a creative process that allows us to synthesise our understanding of Social Science and UAE Social Studies teaching pedagogy with our knowledge of our learners, the curriculum, and the teaching context.

Year plan will help us to prepare lesson plan too.

As per our School curriculum frame work , KHDA Inspection Frame work and CBSE we have need to modify our Pedagogy .
It is the scientific teaching/instruction strategy through which knowledge is imparted in the classroom. The term generally refers to strategies of instruction, or a style of instruction. On the basis of our pedagogy we need to plan and conduct activity oriented method of teaching in social science classrooms.

Kindly see the attached folders. There are separate folders for Indian SST and UAE SSt respectively.

When you fill the google sheet kindly note the following points:

# Kindly check Bifurcated Syllabus, Assessment Scheme and Academic Calendar and know working days and evaluation dates etc.
# Learning objectives must be based on blooms taxonomy ( different levels )
# Minimum four different level of learning objectives are to be included for all Chapters.
# Minimum number of Chapter activities = 2 ( We expect activity oriented teaching style in our class room. So that we wish to see more number of activities.)
# Cross curricular linkage - The links where children use and apply aspects of learning from one subject in another.
# Link with UAE – How does the topic is integrated with the elements of UAE heritage, history and culture.( “It will increase the dedication and love pupils feel towards the nation)
#Subject enrichment Activities : These are subject-specific activities aimed at enhancing the understanding and skills of the students. These activities are to be carried out throughout the term, however, they should be evaluated at the term-end. We need to keep the evidence and report of this activities.

#Department Activity -The activities which is conducted by Social Science department as part of important days.

Thought of School- How should be?

Center for learning:- A best space for better learning than any other schools in the world.
Children should fee happy and motivation to come and go Get chance to meet and interact eminent personalities in the world.

Self Learning Center with Internet access - Students should be able to make self study incorporating with ICT materials under the guidance and monitoring of  the teacher.
Center for skill development - There should be special time in the school time table for practising chosen skills, like Making Reports, Making Self Evaluation, Presentation skills, Event Management skills, etc. Also include some other certificate courses like, Basic Electronics, Electrical, Plumping, computer courses like coding, networking as part of co-curricular activities.
Center for occupational preparation: When a child complete his school education, he should have able to go for a job. Now those who completed plus two course ,they work as a Assistant teacher. If we provide a course like PPTC , TTC as per the MOE rule and UAE Situations, at least they will be able to get a small job. Let students get a chance to complete a lot of certificate courses like MOOC. Surely this will help them in futute.
Course combinations in Plus one course: Since we have number of combinations in plus one course we provide only 2 streams such as Science and Commerce. In addition to this there are many courses and in each coursed there are several combinations but in UAE most of the school provide only science and commerce. For instance: In Humanities course itself has 32 combinations but there is less schools provide this.

Academic quality – How much we have concentrated ? Suggestion to improve ?
